YAAAWWWNNNN

so here's a question....

has anyone else felt overly tired after getting their band?

the reason i'm asking is because i've noticed that i tend to take these late afternoon naps since getting the band. it's like i get tired a lot faster and easier than i did pre band.whereas before i could a lotta chores or whatever, now it's like i can only do a few things before i need a rest or a nap. it's frustrating.

i always LIKED napping before, but it was just cuz i wanted to. not cuz i really needed to. but now it's like i literally feel tired more often than before. it's wierd.

i was thinking maybe it's just me recovering from the surgery and getting used to the new nutritional intake and all that. does that make sense?

also.... this is off topic, but can someone tell me how to post pics/awards/whatever in the sideline of my blog layout? thanks.

falling pants and a zumba dance?

so i went for my daily walk. 20 minutes. woohoo! it was nice. the kids, the dog, and i all enjoyed it. although they are 10 and 7, they have found that pushing each other in an umbrella stroller in front of me is the best of fun for them. go figure!

so while we were walking, i was thinking. here's what i was thinking about.

my pants. yep. i noticed that i kept having to pull the up over and over again as we walked. that can only mean one thing. i am losing!!!! i never had to do that before. and now i do. yay for falling pants!

my underwear. yeah... under the pants they were falling down, too. once again.... that can only mean one thing. i'm losing!!! yay!!!!

zumba. amy mentioned zumba after her happy yard dance and i started wondering if they have that anywhere around here. i did an internet search and they offer it numerous places around my town. one at the mall and another like walking distance from my house. then i youtubed the thing and watched a buncha vids. it's pretty cool looking. folks have even posted the full zumba instructional vids (in pieces like 1, 2, 3, 4 and etc.) so folks can even do it for free. i figure i'll do some of the youtube freebies to "get the hang of it" then check out some of the classes. they offer them at all different times and stages from beginner to basic to advanced. and they aren't expensive either. you can do like an unlimited amount of classes for $45 a month or 2 classes a week for $30 a month. or you can pay by the class and that's $7 per class. i'd prolly pay by the class for a couple classes til i was sure i liked it. then maybe do the unlimited a month ones. the most for the money ya know?

my husband and i had this discussion recently about me joining the gym vs. using the gym on base. he said there was no reason for me to join a gym when i had access to a nice one for free. i tried to explain to him that i wanted an all women's gym but he still found it to be a waste of money. i agree. it is a waste when i have a free gym available but i just feel like the gym on base is really for the military folks and the last thing i wanna do is be working out with a bunch of air force men. but i know that if he wantd to join an outside gym i'd tell him he was crazy for wanting to waste money when he's got a free one right there. sigh! he turned that one back around on me.

but zumba is different. not available at the gym and it's supposed to be really fun. it looks really fun. my 7 year old daughter was standing next to me dancing and doing the moves as we watched the youtube vids. she LOVES doing workout videos. we should really do them more often. hint hint to me. lol

i'm just trying to find inexpensive (we're currently on one income) and fun ways to workout and get where i wanna get with my weight loss. and every little bit helps, right?

i like that leslie sansone walk a mile in your living room dvd. not sure where it is right now though. i also like belly dance fitness.

have any of ya'll tried zumba? what do you think?

oh....here's a random thought.... i really miss eating cheeseburger macaroni hamburger helper. i tried having some pureed last night with mostly meat and very few noodles and well.... it did NOT go that well.

hello, i'm the whiny b*tch.

ok. so i know that i'm supposed to be really happy with my 15 pound loss in 18 days. i mean, that is 1.2 pounds a day which is a lot more than i ever lost any other way in my life. i mean, i've never been able to lose 1.2 pounds a day before. not even on adipex. but anyway.... i'm starting to feel fussy about it. i think it's cuz the scale is stalled at that dratted 218 and i never see it move. actually my scale reads 222 but then i subtract the 4 pounds that it's off. lol

i know i should really be happy but i guess i'm just frustrated. i want it to be faster. i know that's expecting a lot. and i shouldn't.

i'm a youtube subscriber (are any of you?) and there's this one chick msbebe and she's 6 months out and she looks so great. and then there's skymoon and she's over a year out and just had her plastic surgery and she looks so great. and there's this guy that was banded by my very same surgeon and he's lost over 80 pounds in three months. i guess i'm just starting to worry that i might not lose like everyone else is. i'm starting to wonder "am i gonna look as good as msbebe does at 6 months out? or even half as good?"

i know that even if i just lose 10 pounds a month, i'll be to my goal in like 7 months which is october, but i'm just being a fusser right now i guess.

don't get me wrong. i'm happy with my band. i really am. i love the way i sit down to eat and i eat like so little and then feel full. i relate it to eating a few bites and feeling like i hit the buffet line. lol it's a nice feeling. it's nice to see that i'm only eating tiny bits. it'd just be even nicer to see the scales moving along with it. or to feel it more in my clothes even. i have seen it a bit in some of my clothes and in my bra, but i wanna see it MORE. I WANT MORE!

now i'm starting to feel bad writing this ever ungrateful blog about how frustrated i am at only 18 days out. and i've actually lost. i mean, some people go 18 days and don't lose a thing. but i have. i'm so ungrateful and i feel so bad for feeling like this. what's wrong with me???

it'd be so nice if i could just wake up one day and be thinner and everything i'm hoping for. but i know it doesn't work that way. and i know there are folks who are heavier than me who would be very pleased to have my 218 and here i am bitching about it. i'm sorry ya'll. i feel like such a b*tch.

Monday, March 29, 2010

it's monday... what else to say?

i've come to realization that my scale must be stuck. it must be. it's been sitting there at 218 for the past three days. no movement at all. what's wrong with it??? i figured this might happen when i started mushies but i really hoped that it wouldn't. sigh. i guess this would be a good time to put my "official stats" in for now. so here they are....

HIGHEST WT. -- 240 lbs
SURGERY DAY -- 233 lbs
CURRENT WT -- 218 lbs

TOTAL LOSS -- 22 lbs

TOTAL POST SURGERY LOSS -- 15 lbs

and here is some pics that i took on my first post op appt day. i was 221 lbs here in the pics so 12 pounds down.

if you're wondering why i cut my head off, it's because i'm in the witness protection program. well... sorta.... the i don't want certain someone's seeing this blog protection program. lol

now.... here's what else i have to say.... i've been being "bad" lately. yep. i've had ice cream several times and i've noticed that i've been having huge urges to snack and eat even when i'm not hungry. i need an outlet for my energy but don't have one right now. you'd think that with just having recently moved i'd wanna devote restless energy to unpacking boxes and getting things organized. well, nope. my energy seems to just diminish when i think about doing those things. go figure! i need to get that damned elliptical i keep talking about. that way i could be watching tv and doing something productive - working out. but money is kinda tight right now and i'll have to see how the budget goes.

that's another thing.... right now i'm being the "stay at home mom". my husband is enjoying me being home as that's how he was raised (the mom stays home, the dad works). but i feel almost useless sometimes and like i should be out doing something; aka working. i mean, i've been on my own and working since i was 16 years old. it feels wierd to just not be doing it. and since both my kids are school age and in school all day it's like i'm staying at home for nothing.

i told my husband yesterday (while viewing the sunday sales ads) that i wanted to start working again. he said why and i was like, "so i'll have more money to spend!". i mean, that's as good a reason as any, right? he laughed. but really, i miss having funds to play with as i like as much as i like. i never realized how much more we could do when we were a two income family.

but anyway....

it's time for me to go now. i'm going to go for a walk. trying to up my exercise and all, ya know?

shrinking boobs and cat food tacos

hello everyone! and i do mean EVERYONE since now i have 14 followers. yay!!! thanks to stephanie for giving me a shout out. and hello to all my new blogger friends!

so what do i have to report today? well, let's see....

i've lost three more pounds since i weighed in at my dr's office on wednesday. better believe i was happy as heck when i saw those new numbers on the scale. like i said, it's like christmas when that happens! lol

i put on a pair of jeans today and they were actually comfortable. and you see, these were the jeans that i bought pre band because all my others were getting too tight. and even these were super tight. i had to use that perfect fit button (you know, that lovely as seen on tv thing) to actually have them be semi comfy pre band. i wore them to my last dinner out where we went to the golden corral buffet. halfway through the dinner though i was kicking myself in the arse for wearing the new jeans instead of some stretchy pants cuz it was really starting to hurt with them diggin into my belly. i almost changed pants in the restaurant bathroom... really considered... but refrained. anyway.... i put on those same pants today - minus the perfect fit button - and they fit nicely. not overly loose but not tight either. just right. and they only irritated a little at my port incision site since it's still sensitive.

then after dinner tonight (which i must tell you about as well) i put on a pair of workout pants that used to be pretty tight, too. guess what? not so tight! so i guess i'm starting to feel it in my clothes. woohoo!!!!

dinner... lemme tell you about dinner.... dinner was pureed taco meat with a little cheese in there and it was heavenly. heavenly. it literally looked like cat food (the 9 lives classic pate, if i'm correct lol) but it sure tasted like tacos! i have been wanting tacos for so long and this really hit the spot. i also ate three nacho cheese doritos with it as well. kim mentioned them in her blog and that made me realize that if she could eat them, then i prolly could, too. so i gave it a go. it was fine and so tasty.

oh... and i also wore a regular bra today for like the second time since surgery. i haven't been able to wear anything but tanks with built in bras because one of my incisions is right under and between my breasts and it hurt like hell to have a bra on. but i was able to wear one for a few hours today (that was all i could take) and i noticed that it's not fitting like it used to. unfortunately i think that means my boobs are shrinking. but on the upside my shrinking boobs mean that my body fat is going down so i'm trying to think about it positively. well, as much as one can be positive about her vanishing boobs.

my husband is adamant that my boobs must not disappear but i've told him it's prolly bound to happen. i told my sister and she said that if my boobs got too small i could always get a water bra. oh how exciting. let's go from d cups to water cups. but if i gotta choose between being the big girl with big boobs or being the average girl with average boobs, i'd rather be the latter, water bra and all. lol

i've been having to battle with myself all evening about food, too. i been wanting to go eat and i know i'm not hungry. it's mental. i do not FEEL hungry at all. i just THINK i am. i wanna TASTE. bad me! i keep telling myself NOOOOOO!!!!!!

i walked briskly for about 20 minutes this evening with the family and it was nice. i'm doing 15 minutes to start this week and then stepping it up to 20 min next week. then upping it by five each week til i get to 30 min everyday or five days a week. then once i get accustomed to that, i'll start trying out the couch to 5k thing.

well, i guess that's all i have to report. over and out!

models

in my midnight can't sleep boredom this is what i found.... a website where you personalize a model for shopping and then try clothes on her. well,i used it to forsee what my difference would be after i reach my goal of 150lbs.

so pic number one is basically what i looked like in my swimsuit LAST summer and pic number two is what i hope to look like in my swimsuit NEXT summer (2011). that would be if i went from the 221 i am now to the 150 i wanna be. a total of 71 pounds lost.

here's to hoping!

nothing new in my ant pile

well, not sure that i have anything new to report today. no pounds lost. in fact, nothing overly interesting happened at all today. at least not that i can recall.

my midsection is itching like i've been bitten by a zillion ants. or like it did that time when i was 10 years old and had poison ivy so bad i had to go to the doc and get a shot to get rid of it. i just wanna scratch scratch scratch. we were shopping in target today (my husband and i) and i told him that folks are prolly thinking i'm pregnant with how i'm walking around rubbing my belly constantly. it was as close to actual scratching as i could get.

i thoroughly enjoyed my mushie meal for dinner tonight and the kids were excited about having me back at the dinner table again. we haven't had a "family meal" since before i started my pre op liquid diet. there was no way i was torturing myself by sitting at a table and watching three folks eat foods that i can't have. no way. no matter how much i love ya. lol

i did notice about two hours after eating though, that i was feeling hungry again. hunger pains in the tummy. not in the head. thank goodness! i'm really trying to change my way of thinking about things as far as hunger and stuff goes.

i made up an exercise/walking plan that takes me through the end of april and i'm excited about that. as soon as i get used to moving again (yes, sad, i know), i'm going to do that couch to 5k thing i think. i'm feeling motivated about it.

made an executive decision that our family is gonna participate in the walk for autism awareness coming up on april 17. it hits home with my some having asd and well, it's something healthy and fun for us to do as a family. i'm going to tell the family tomorrow about the decision i made. hopefully they will be as enthused as i am. i have a feeling my 7 year old daughter will find that all four of us wearing matching t-shirts is the most exciting part of all. oh to be a little girl again!

biscuit

so today i went for a group meeting with the nutritionist and then my first post op appointment. the meeting went well. there were four of us total and i was the "youngest" band there. lol everyone confessed to their food cheats. i must say it made me feel a whole lot better. out of the four, only one of us (an older lady who actually LIKED the horrific protein shakes) didn't cheat in some way, shape, or form over these post op liquid diet days.

the lady to my left confessed to downing lots of cheese off of pizza and thoroughly enjoying it. the guy on my right confessed to.... well, a lot. first he goes, "well... i had a biscuit." and the nutritionist was like "you mean a piece of one." and he was like "no, i had a whole one". we were all in total shock. i mean, breads are known to be hard foods for us banders anyway and here was this guy barely two weeks post op confessing to downing and ENTIRE biscuit?

yeah..... but he didn't stop there. he went on to tell us that along with his biscuit he also had eggs and grits. all in one sitting. he got all that down no problem. we were floored. of course, he was reprimanded for his "naughty behavior" but he just laughed and we moved along. later, he also confessed to having 3 to 4 yogurts a day as well as a lot of v8. i am still shocked about the biscuit.

as for me... i confessed to doing what i call "the chew and spit" where i chew some food just to taste it and then spit it out (since i can't swallow it). gross, i know but it served its purpose. i also admitted to the cadbury creme egg that found it's way into my mouth to melt itself into nothingness. somehow though, i still felt my little cheats were nothing compared to my group meeting buddy's breakfast of champions.

we were all moved into the mushies phase - woohoo! and given the go ahead to start pureeing to our heart's content all the meats we want.

we were also given lots of nice "nutritional input". i had a hard time staying focused on that though because i was a little busy thinking about the nutritionist herself. see.... when she first walked in, the lady to my left asked the nut (nutritionist) if she has always been that thin. (she was super thin... i'm talking maybe a size 2!) the nut says yes and that she has never really had to worry about her weight; she was just "blessed" with a great metabolism. so with that info being given right off the bat, i just had a hard time listening to a rail thin woman who's never dealt with weight or food issues telling all us "big folks" who just had weight loss surgery what we should and shouldn't do and how to "make ourselves" not overeat and etc. it's like, what could she possibly know about how hard it is to move away from the ever appealing bucket of chicken? how can she relate to the feeling of being depressed when you go shopping in a store and can't find anything big enough? so depressed that then you go waller your sadness in hot fudge sundae with extra fudge. i just don't get it. i guess i would feel more comfortable (and the lady on my left said she would have, too) if the woman had at least had some personal experience of dealing with weight issues. but alas, she was born with the great metabolism. oh if we all could be.

but anyway.... after all that was done.... the four of us headed back to the doc's office to sign in for our post op check ups.

i was called in 2nd and was surprised to find out that i had lost more weight than i thought. yep. it's 12 pounds down in 12 days. a pound a day! pretty happy with that progress there i must say.

it took a while for the nurse practioner to come in to see me and first thing when she walked in i told her how freaked out i was about having stitches removed. i mean, i've only been stitched twice in my life - both related to childbirth- and the stitches were self dissolving. the thought of having stitches pulled outta my healing incisions really didn't sound that great to me. but she assured me it was fine and proceed to quickly (and i do mean quickly) rip off the plastic sheets protecting my bobos. surprisingly, that didn't hurt like i would have thought it would. i could tell she was a pro at this and that made me feel a bit better. then she proceeded to rip the stitches out. and i say rip because that's pretty much how it was. she grabbed the end with her tweezer things, pulled hard and fast and boom they were out. that didn't hurt either. i was shocked. it felt a little wierd after though but they said that was normal.

minus the stitches and plastic sheeting things, my incisions look so much better than i would have imagined. just small lines with a faint pink tinge to them. woohoo. they still itch like crazy though.

i booked my next appt for 2 weeks from now (april 7) and that's when i'll get moved onto "soft foods" and the final stage of my new diet. i'm wondering if those two weeks will go by as fast as the first two have?

other thoughts.....

while i still haven't noticed a real difference in my clothes and how they fit, i did go shoe shopping today and noticed that i am a smaller shoe size. how that works,i don't know, but it's true. normally i'm a size 9 to 9 1/2 at this store and today, all the 9's were too big. i had to buy 8 1/2's. i think that's great since that's what i used to wear all the time anyway. my shoe size got bigger as my butt did. go figure. so maybe if my shoe size is shrinking my butt is, too, and i just haven't noticed it yet. just trying to stay positive, ya know? lol

a friend came over to visit (and color my hair) and i had her take two "12 pounds down" photos of me. a frontal and a side shot. of course, i think they look horrendous and dont' really want to show them to anyone but i know i need them for "documentational" purposes. for remembrance and for being able to see change. so far, i still don't see any.

three folks have told me they see weight loss in my face. one is the aforementioned friend and fellow bander (she's almost 2 years out). another my husband and the last my 7 year old daughter. she came up to me this evening and said, "mommy, you're getting skinny!" i laughed and told her it's about being healthy not being skinny. although truth be told.... BRING ON THE SKINNY!

it's like christmas!!!

i must admit i've become i scale junkie. i hit the scales first thing every morning after i pee. i'm pretty much obsessed with seeing the number move. i didn't want to be this way which is why i originally did not want to weigh except at my dr's appointments. but alas i caved, bought a health o meter digital scale, and have been weighing myself ever since.

today my little friend told me i had lost another pound. woohoo! yay! 9 pounds down in 11 days.

i'm really enjoying seeing the scale move. i never expected it would start moving so fast. i mean, i just figured it'd be a slow going thing but wasn't i pleasantly surprised. don't get me wrong, i know it might slow down once i move onto mushies and then real foods but it's still so nice to see some movement finally in the numbers.

motivated and inspired!!!!

looking foward

it's been 9 days since i got my band. i've lost 8 pounds. that's almost a pound a day. so far my band has shown me that it IS actually doing something. for a while i was skeptical. i mean, it hasn't been an easy 10 days. in fact, yesterday and today are the first days that i'm actually starting to feel pretty good/decent again. i know everyone is different but i must say that everyone who says this surgery is "easy" and "no big deal"... well, they are either lying or just had an easy go of it. i compare mine to a bit easier (but not by much) version of the c section i had with my son back in 1999.

my body feels wierd. not so much on the outside but definitely on the inside. i can't say that i can actually feel the band in there, but i can feel something. sensations? i feel pain when i hiccup and sometimes when i burp. and i feel tightness (restriction, i guess?) when i'm drinking my liquids and start to feel full. for a while i felt pain when i breathed deep but thankfully i think that part has passed.

so i guess it's slowly hitting me that i've actually had bariatric surgery. weight loss surgery. i know that that should have already hit me by now... like before i actually had the surgery.... but i guess it really didn't til now. i mean, i knew what i was doing of course, but i didn't ever really think of it as the "bariatric surgery" that it's formally known as. i just called it "lap band". no big deal, right?

no. it IS a big deal. a huge one. a lifechanging one. one that i'm hoping i will forever be able to say i made the right decision with.

i have so much hope for this band. for my ability to get somewhere with this band inside me.

it's like i'm obssessed almost with my band and this journey i've embarked on. i'm constantly thinking about the foods i eat (or am going to eat once i get moved onto mushies and solids), the kind of proteins i wanna get/try, what the scale is gonna say the next time i step on it, when i'll be able to notice that walking up a few stairs doesn't make me outta breath like it has for years. everything i think is somehow related to this band. does that ever stop? will i forever be obsessed with this stranger inside me?

and after i think about all that other stuff about the band... the health stuff.... then i think i about the physical stuff. like how my body is gonna change. how it's gonna look when i start losing. i mean, really losing. the idea that i will be able to shop freely in almost any store i choose instead of just the ones geared to us bigger gals. being able to look for a particular size on the rack instead of just the largest one available. i can't wait til the day where i can look in the mirror and see an average sized woman looking back at me. maybe even one in a cute swimsuit like this lady in red! she's like my vision of what goal would and will look like.

oh the hopes i have for this life with my band. i just pray that it's everything i want and need for it to be. my food police, my friend, my protection from overeating for the rest of my life, my gateway into a "normal" bmi, my blessing.

i'm alive!!!

well, i am here. alive and kicking. not sure that i'm quite ready to sit here long enough to write out my whole "surgery story" but i'll say this for now...

all went well and i'm glad that i stayed overnight in the hospital. i needed it. it was much more painful than i thought it would be. that might be because my surgeon found a hernia in there while he was banding me so he had to fix that, too. regardless, i'm so glad i stayed overnight. i needed that round the clock nurse care and medicine they gave me.

i'm three days post band and no issues so far. keeping my fingers crossed. worn out on protein shakes and starting to feel hunger pains.

i placed an order for some protein shakes from unjury and bariatriceating.com today and hope those come in soon. hope i find something i like in them. am really looking forward to trying to unflavored kind that i can add to whatever i want. and also looking forward to trying that chicken broth one from unjury. anyone have any reviews on any of these?

eight days til i go for my post op check up and hopefully get moved onto mushies. oh how i'm ready for the mushies!!!

here i go!!!!

well... it's finally here! today is the day! and i'm ready. my bag is packed, my kids stuff is ready for the arrangements i made for them. i smell faintly like that wierd scrub i had to wash with last night and this morning. i'm feeling good. no more sniffles... well, maybe one every now and then. i'm nervous but more excited than nervous now i think. i'm sure i'll freak out as the moment gets closer though. lol

my husband is still in there snoozing away. i'm about to have to go wake him up. get up! get ready! today is the day!!!! can i shout from the rooftops or what?

i do have a few worries that there might be complications. like i'll be the one in a million chance that something insane will happen that never happens to anyone else. but i know those chances are slim.

honestly... i'm kinda looking forward to my overnight in the hospital. a lot of folks on lapband talk talked about how they enjoyed their overnight stay. like it was a break and stuff. so i'm gonna hope that mine will be that way, too.

thanks for all the nice comments on my last post and i will be posting as soon as i feel up to it after the surgery. hopefully that'll be sooner rather than later. i'm gonna see if the hospital gets wifi or something and maybe then i can even use my laptop there depending on how i'm feeling.

next time i'm here... it'll be a new life for a new me. yay!!!

Thursday, March 11, 2010

it's on!

well, looks like everything is on for tomorrow and the start of my "new life" as a bandster! i'm feeling way better than earlier this week and only have a few sniffles here and there. yay!!!! my doctor was right. the z pack did the trick!!! woohoo!!!!

now i'm REALLY starting to get nervous. but at the same time, i have a million things to do so it really kinda takes my mind off of things for the most part. i gotta get the house cleaned (my personal thing) since i'll be outta commission on that for a few days. i gotta go to the store and get last minute necessities. i gotta get my kids stuff all ready for tomorrow since they are being care for by someone else in the am and then my daughter is spending the night with her half sister. i gotta pack my bag for the hospital.

those are all fine. but then this afternoon they've said that i gotta take some laxatives. i'm not to keen on that idea but will do it, of course. then tonight i am supposed to shower with some oddly smelling scrub stat bath stuff. then i gotta shower again with it in the morning before i head to the hospital. no fun!!!! and getting up at 5am is not gonna be fun either as i am NOT a morning person at all. but i will do it. and barring any bad complications... i will have my band by tomorrow afternoon!!! yay!!!!

well.... back to the housework!!!!

still waiting to see...

well, it's about halfway through wednesday and i'm still waiting to see how good (or hopefully great) i'll feel by early tomorrow afternoon. hopefully good enough to keep my surgery on the go!

thanks, debi, for the comment about the protein shakes. that shake sounds great.... sadly we don't have a costco here. the closest one is 160 miles away!!! =( however, i did a google search of it and found it on amazon.com. there are several different purchase/shipping options but it runs about $50 with shipping for one bag. that's still a better deal than the ones i got from bariatric advantage which were $50 for a 35 serving bag... not including shipping. so i will see about getting some of that and giving it a try. does anyone have any ideas of what i can do with a big ole bag of nasty protein shake mix?

i'm starting to get really nervous about day after tomorrow. did i mention that they might keep me overnight? yeah... well, that's what they said. that it is something to do with my insurance and i'm like hmmm.... not sure how i feel about that. last time i stayed in a hospital overnight it was giving birth to my daughter 7... almost 8... years ago! in fact, the only times i've ever stayed overnight in a hospital were childbirth related and i had someone there with me. it seems wierd that i'd be staying all by my lonesome.

nothing new or exciting has happened today. i had some ice cream from sonic. i know... bad me! it was the kind that the crunched up candy in it. mine was m&m's and i only ate about a third of it. but i was dying for some and know that will be something that won't happen often - if at all - after my banding. tomorrow i move onto all clear liquids. it's gonna be kinda nice having a break from the dratted protein shakes though.

he's a random bit of info... my nose really hurts from all the blowing i been doing!!!!

to be banded... or to be postponed?

i know it's been a bit since i last made a blog entry and i do apologize for that. i won't make excuses though. i'll just leave it at that and do my best to make sure to post more often.

honestly, i logged in only to search for another blog i read a while back that had a list of great pre op things to get before getting banded. boy was i surprised when i logged in and saw that my blog had six followers! i was like "what???". i had no idea! so hello to you all and i hope you continue to read. =)

i got a band date and it's this friday. yep. march 12. two days away. well, not counting today and not counting the actual date itself. i got wednesday and thursday to go. that is.... if it doesn't get postponed. yeah....

sunday morning i woke up with a horrible sore throat and congestion issues which only continued to get worse all day yesterday while i did all my pre op testing. my gi doc gave me a script for a z pack and said that if i'm not feeling much much better by thursday afternoon, then i will have to be postponed. but i get better, it's on and i'll be a banded lady come friday afternoon! i'm hoping for the best and "feeding" my cold/infection lots of chicken broth and liquids. kinda convenient that i'm on a liquid diet now. lol

speaking of the liquid diet.... well, it's been a real bitch. i'm not gonna lie. and i've cheated more than i'd like to admit. i felt horrible everytime. but i did have a realization one of those times of just how bad i am about emotional eating. i guess i never realized but now i do. it was a rude but good awakening.

i'm already so fed up with protein shakes. the ones the doc's office ordered are horrible. and i mean horrible. and i realize that i'm overly picky, but my husband tried them, too, and he gagged getting one down. they are horrible!!! so i've been doing the kind from the grocery store. i know they don't have as much protein but they work and that's all that matters to me. a friend of mine who had the band over a year ago used the same ones i'm using now and she did fine. so i will, too. or i better!!!!

i'm starting to get really nervous about friday. so much to do and so little time. they told me at pre op yesterday that i'm scheduled to spend the night. i was like "what???" because my doc had said that i was just a day surgery patient. but apparently my insurance wants me to stay over. the nurse did say the doc might go ahead and let me go depending on how i'm doing but i guess we will see come friday. hopefully i'll get to go and get banded. i really don't wanna be postponed!!!!

well, i better go blow my nose again. that'll just be like the two hundred and thirty fourth time today. sigh! sniff sniff.
